A brilliant night
The fundraiser to benefit The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital took place on Wednesday October 21st, 2015 at the Montreal Rio Tinto Planetarium, where it was “A Brilliant Night”. The Neuro’s inaugural evening raised over $600,000 for the fight against brain tumours in Montreal far surpassing their initial fundraising goal by more than half. The total sum raised goes towards the next generation of brain cancer treatment and TARGiT two ground-breaking research programs at The Neuro aiming to offer new therapeutic options for brain cancer patients and to identify novel molecules that can be targeted to prevent brain cancer invasion. Dr. Kevin Petrecca and the TARGIT team are leading this ground-breaking endeavour.
The evening consisted of delectable food, mesmerizing entertainment, dashing men in suits, elegant women, emotional speeches and music that electrified the soul. Throughout the night, guests indulged in gourmet delicacies, aphrodisiac hors d’oeuvres and scrumptious deserts from Montreal’s top restaurants. There were educational and entertaining performances all night through remarkable dancers and acrobatic circus performers, and video installations that explored the universe of the brain. The evening ended with a captivating DJ that kept you on the dance floor all night long.
Guests socialized amongst the medical elite of Montreal giving way to enlightening conversations, inspiring speeches, and hope for a better future. Family, friends, and researchers all contributed to the evening. More than 50 volunteers, and close to 650 guests, donated to making this first edition event an overwhelming success.
DevMcGill played an important role in immortalizing the evening; capturing the moments that touched all those that attended by providing the video footage and photographs following the event. The goal of this endeavour is to create awareness and draw in more supporter donations, and funds for next year’s fundraiser, to provide critical financial assistance for this important cause. Together we all can fight against this terrible disease and ease the loss of many in the future.
A special thanks goes to the evening sponsors, representatives, and committee members that helped make the night memorable and possible.
