Art Exhibits to Check out this Fall in Griffintown

Griffintown’s cool factor is steadfast in the Montreal scene. Not only is the area bustling with new and trendy Griffintown condos for sale, the hottest restaurants and gorgeous scenery along the canal, it is also home to many popular art galleries, all of which have exciting exhibitions happening this fall. Here are just a few in the area you’ll be able to enjoy this Fall 2019. 

Montreal Art Center

A gorgeously restored ironworks factory is now home to the Montreal Art Center, a hub for local artisans to exhibit and their craft. Space is not only for those who paint, draw, or utilize mixed media; the Montreal Art Center is also open to musicians too!

Arsenal 

Contemporary art gallery Arsenal has three galleries located in Toronto, New York, and Montreal. Founded in Montreal in 2011 by Pierre and Anne-Marie Trahan, the art gallery has been recognized as a significant player in the revival of Griffintown, through its cultural programming and public action. This cutting-edge museum showcases some of the most prominent names in the contemporary art community from all over the world, its private collection and from the greater Montreal area.

What to look forward to this fall: 

Galerie Connexe

Bundle up and take a stroll through one of the most unique art galleries Montreal has to offer. Galerie Connexe is an open-air art gallery presented by the SDC – Les Quartiers du Canal in partner with the various Art Galleries in the area. From May to October, the participating galleries come together to curate a selection of pieces to line the Parc des Meubliers for all to enjoy.

Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran

Like many of the spaces in and around Griffintown, Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran has brought the beauty of art to a restored welding workshop that once housed the industrial buildings that lined the streets of the area. Established in 2012, the museum focuses mainly on emerging and mid-career contemporary artists from Montreal and beyond. 

What to look forward to this fall: 

Galerie Lisabel

If you’re a fan of Montreal artists, chances are you’ve had the pleasure of viewing a few pieces made by the prolific painter Lisabel. Located just steps away from the NOCA condos in Griffintown, Lisabel and her husband Glenn Miller have opened up their gallery to show and sell the myriad of artistic mediums Lisabel has dipped her toes into. From iconic paintings to sculptures and mannequins, a visit is always warranted.
