ArtHaus Condos Year in Review
As part of Canada’s most innovative and future-forward urban developments, Arthaus Condos is set to transform Ottawa’s renowned Byward Market.
What a year it was!
Arthaus Condos has been busy working with our team of developers, building the sleek and modern residential component of the mix-use Arts Court transformation, which will consist of a boutique luxury hotel, a 1,600-square-foot theatre run by the University of Ottawa, the expanded Ottawa Art Gallery, and a collection of new urban retail space.
Throughout 2016 we also hosted a myriad of events in the buzzing Byward–home to some of the city’s trendiest restaurants, coolest bars and clubs and unique boutique shops and galleries.
On the Rocks
February 5th saw City Hall’s Jean Pigott Place overtaken with the bright sights and abundant flavours of the Caribbean. As winter overtook Ottawa, ArtHaus co-sponsored a tropical getaway marking the annual Winterlude winter fiesta. On The Rocks: In The Caribbean brought island heat to city hall, with Afro-Latin beats, dance performances and several lively rounds of limbo and conga lines. Tastebuds were set ablaze with delectable Caribbean fare prepared, a delightfully tropical punch and an endless string of beautifully lavish prize giveaways before the festivities moved to ByWard Market Square’s lower level for a post-party that kept up the hot island beats well into the night.
DevMcGill Celebrates love
On Valentine’s Day, DevMcGill celebrated with roses. In collaboration with Moetreal, ArtHaus Condos gave out gorgeous roses outside the Ottawa presentation centre, along with all of DevMcgill’s projects. Each lovely rose comes with a promotion, including discounts on spa services, condo taxes and more!
Presentation Centre Grand Opening
March 20th 2016 saw the much-anticipated grand opening celebration of our Arthaus Condos Presentation Gallery at 264 Rideau Street, Ottawa. With a live broadcast by Ottawa’s Hot 89.9, the packed crowd of prospective homebuyers were treated with a first hand look at the impressive features and finishes that come with every suite. A 3D scale model was unveiled through innovative immersion technology using Google Cardboard, allowing viewers to take a virtual tour of the interiors, viewing the features such as nine-foot smooth finished ceilings, pre-finished engineered hardwood floors, custom cabinetry, quartz countertops and more.
Construction is about to rise above ground
The impressive progress at the Arts Court redevelopment site saw a major milestone as construction moved above ground! Toward the end of March the structure of the underground parking garage was completed, as the structure of the concourse level was set for completion in mid-April. Mayor Jim Watson joined the Honourable Madeleine Meilleur, MPP for Ottawa-Vanier and Rideau-Vanier Ward Councillor Mathieu Fleury to celebrate the start of the next stage of construction.
Le pARTy by The Ottawa Art Gallery
Ottawa’s premier springtime social event happened Thursday June 9th, sponsored in part by ArtHaus Condos by DevMcGill. Marking The Ottawa Art Gallery’s 20th anniversary the OAG staff also joyfully celebrated exceeded their fundraising goal, raising $108,000. The funds raised went toward supporting the gallery’s exhibition and educational programming needs. Unlike many fundraising art auctions, Le pARTy returns 40 per cent of the sale price of each work back to the artist.
ArtHaus Talks Series
ArtHaus Condos held a number of our popular Discussion Series ‘Arthaus Talks’. August 17th, City-Councillor Mathieu Fleury and Local BIA Director Peggy DuCharme participated in the Discussion Series ‘Today & Tomorrow’, sharing the exciting changes underway for the ByWard Market, and how these changes will impact the area in the coming years. October 13 ArtHaus Condos held “Modern Day Architecture & Design” with Régis Côté et associés President, Jérôme Côté as he shared the impact that design has had on modern day architecture and the building design trends we are seeing in today’s marketplace.
Things continue to move along on the construction site
On the site for the new building, the concrete work for the public sector on all floor levels, the Concourse to the fourth floor, plus the roof were completed in September, 2016. The contractor now continues to work on mechanical and electrical for the new OAG, has finished pouring concrete for the hotel and is now pouring the first floors of the condominium tower. Work is taking place on the new structures as well as within the existing Arts Court building. Within Arts Court, the demolition and reconstruction of a new staircase (“Stair A”) is underway. This staircase will be connected to the new OAG building, and eventually serve as an emergency exit for both Arts Court and the new OAG building. The contractor will be pouring the final eight floors of the private sector tower over the winter months. Construction has now reached the 17th floor. The concrete structure for the private sector component is scheduled to be completed by January 2017.
ArtHaus Condos wishes you and yours a wonderful new year, as we continue to celebrat
