The Best Restaurants To Celebrate Christmas This Year
Christmas is literally around the corner, and for many Montrealers, cooking and cleaning for the entire family is exhausting. So if you’re looking to switch things up this year and searching for the ideal restaurant to celebrate the 25th of December, we’ve created this complete list for you!
Damas Restaurant
If you’re looking for an upscale Christmas dinner service, look no further than Damas situated in the heart of Outremont. This popular establishment serves up some of the best contemporary Syrian cuisine in the city, which comprises of fresh mezzas, grilled meats, and tasty seafood options.

We highly recommend ordering the shish taouk plate, which is marinated in a tangy garlic sauce and exotic spices to create a mouth-watering masterpiece. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask ahead for the tasting menu and talk to the sommelier to pair the right bottle of wine with your meal. It’s also a quick 10-minute drive from the Ateliers Castelnau condo project, which is located to the north in the Mile-Ex neighbourhood.
Khyber Pass
Keeping with the Middle Eastern and South Asian theme, next on our list is Khyber Pass – a traditional Afghan restaurant in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood. This year for Christmas dinner there’s a special table d’hote menu and includes their delicious lamb and beef brochettes. This restaurant is only a 15-minute drive from the TAK Village project, which is a Scandinavian-inspired condo development in the adjacent neighbourhood of Rosemont-Angus.

Ruby Rouge
Indulge in the ultimate holiday comfort food at Ruby Rouge, which is a famous dim sum house in the heart of Chinatown, near the Humaniti condo project in downtown Montreal. This Christmas, the restaurant is open from 11 am until 11 pm and serves its regular menu comprised of dumplings, Szechuan, and Cantonese dishes. If you’re thinking about heading there for dinner, we highly recommend the Peking duck and the Shanghai-style noodles (ask for them extra spicy if you’re feeling brave).

Maggie Oakes
Venture to the Old Port of Montreal this Christmas and head to Maggie Oakes situated inside the trendy William Gray hotel, which is also near the Humaniti project. On Christmas Day, they’ll be serving a spectacular set menu starting at $65, along with their signature cocktails. If it’s your first time at Maggie Oakes, definitely opt for the five-course meal and their signature old-fashioned cocktail – which is divine. If you’re not in the mood for dinner, they also serve a decadent brunch complete with mimosas.

Gibbys
Gibbys is a culinary icon in the Old Port that serves the best steaks in the city. The restaurant is always packed around this season, so we recommend calling ahead and making a reservation – especially for Christmas dinner. It’s super close to the NOCA condo project in Griffintown, which is only a quick 20-minute walk away.
If you’re not a carnivore, Gibbys has a great chicken and seafood menu! We’ve mentioned before in our blog that their chicken Kiev is divine, but we also highly recommend their lobster tails.

Modavie
Our last recommendation is the vegetarian-friendly restaurant Modavie. It’s perfect for the entire family on Christmas Day, and they’ve even got a set menu for only $95 per person, which includes hearty soups, salads, seafood, and a selection of meats – plus there’s live jazz music throughout the night. It’s also near both the NOCA and Humaniti project, meaning residents can dine here throughout the year.

Where ever you choose to celebrate Christmas this year, we invite you to check out one of DevMcGill’s condo projects across Montreal. For more information, visit our website or call us at (514) 288-4737.
