Biking on the Lachine Canal

When planning a bike ride, it’s only natural to think of green, open spaces that allow you to ride along freely. Downtown Montreal, with its endless traffic lights, isn’t exactly top of mind for this type of activity. And yet the Lachine Canal is the perfect place to enjoy a delightful bike ride.

Bridging the Old Port and downtown Montreal, this bike path is off limits to cars and surrounded by breathtaking greenery. Locks and former factories dating back to the 19th century are among the many interesting sights you’ll see along this 14.5-kilometre urban route.

Feel like taking a little break to cool down? Drop into Havre aux glaces, an artisanal ice cream shop located just off Atwater Market. It’s the perfect spot to catch your breath while savouring a delicious sorbet featuring seasonal flavours. Or how about a cold beer? The Terrasse St-Ambroise is one of Montreal’s greatest terraces. Every day starting at noon, you can enjoy draft beer and barbecue-inspired dishes. You’ll surely want to join in on the fun when you see the herd of bikes parked along the fence.

The Lachine Canal bike path is undoubtedly a key highlight of our upcoming NOCA condo project which will be located along the waterside. Residents will have access to a wide variety of all-inclusive services, including self-serve bicycles and repair desks fitted with tools. All reasons are good to take in the enchanting scenery of the Lachine Canal.
