Christmas Markets to Experience this Season in Montreal
Nobody does Christmas markets quite like Montreal!
Recognized as staples of the festive season, Montreal’s Christmas markets are one-stop, must-see destinations for shoppers searching for toys, crafts, wall art and, above all, holiday magic. For Montreal condo owners, these markets offer holiday-themed decor such as garlands, lights, and wreaths that will surely spice up the heart of the home.
With such a wide selection of Christmas markets to choose from, we’ve narrowed the list to highlight some of the events that we think will provide you with the heaviest dose of holiday cheer. These Christmas markets may appear to be eccentric, unconventional, and even ludicrous. But one thing remains absolutely certain – visiting them will be a holly jolly good time!
Souk
When: November 27 – December 1
Where: 1001 Rue Lenoir / RCA Building
In the realm of Christmas markets, Souk is an anomaly. At this market, high-end goods and Christmas spirit collide for a singular holiday experience. Whereas other Christmas markets tend to opt for old-timey, Canadiana-inspired products, Souk specializes in upmarket finds, such as haute couture and fine jewelry. Elegance, grace, and looks that are oh-so Instagrammable; you’ll find it all at Souk!
Nutcracker Market
When: November 28 – December 8
Where: 1001 Jean-Paul Riopelle / Palais des Congrès
For the vendors at the Nutcracker Market, providing holiday cheer has become second nature. Boasting over 100 vendors, this classic Christmas market offers an abundance of fine foods, decorations, jewelry, accessories, and toys. The best part? Ten percent of market sales will go to the Grand Ballets’ Nutcracker Fund, which allows nearly 3,000 sick and underprivileged kids to attend a free performance of the title play. If you’re looking to shop ‘til you drop for a good cause, look no further than this comprehensive Christmas market!
Atwater Christmas Village Market
When: Every weekend from November 29 – December 22
Where: 138 Avenue Atwater / Atwater Market
During the summer, Atwater Market is a bustling open-air mall with farmer stalls, florists, bakeries, cheese shops, and even a seasonal food court. But, once the snow hits, the real magic begins.
In the weeks leading up to the winter holidays, Atwater Market goes all out by creating over 50 makeshift chalets. In addition, the market also offers holiday entertainment and kid-friendly activities. Just a ten-minute walk from the NOCA Condos in Griffintown, Atwater Market is the perfect spot to spend your holidays.
Salon des métiers d’art du Québec
When: December 6 – 22
Where: 800 Rue de la Gauchetière / Place Bonaventure
By shopping at the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec, you won’t just find the perfect holiday gift; you’ll also be supporting local, hard-working artisans. A five-minute walk from DevMcGill’s upcoming Humaniti condo project, this holiday craft fair features over 400 artisans under one roof. With an illustrious history spanning over six decades, the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec has become recognized as a veritable Montreal extravaganza.
