Events To Enjoy Near Griffintown This Holiday Season
The holiday season is just around the corner, which means the city is about to enchant us with its beautiful decor and weather-appropriate activities for all. Here are some not-be-missed events happening this year near Griffintown, which is also home to the NOCA condos!
Outdoor Skating
Let’s face it; Montreal gets cold during winter, so it makes sense for the city to transform a popular hotspot into a public skating rink! Starting on December 8th, the Natrel Basin turns into an outdoor arena and boasts stunning views of Terrasses Bonsecours and the Montreal Observation Wheel.

It’s relatively close to Griffintown and the NOCA condos, and the entrance fee is $6.95 for adults and $4.60 for children, but this doesn’t include skate rentals (we recommend you bring your own). After some outdoor exercise, head to the Bistro Bonsecours (inside Terrasses Bonsecours) for some delicious food!
The Nordic Square
Enjoy the winter weather in the heart of the Old Port at the Nordic Square, which features activities, live performances, art installations, food stations, and musical performances. It’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit and have some fun with the family.

The festivities take place in Jacques-Cartier Square, and start on December 21st and end on New Year’s Eve. Entrance is free, and it’s a quick walk from Champs-de-Mars metro on the orange line. If you live in Griffintown near the NOCA condos site, we invite residents to walk through the wintery metropolis to get to the Nordic Square.
The Santa Claus Exhibit
Ever wondered where Santa Claus came from? Discover the origins of this legendary character at the World Trade Center in the Old Port until January 2019. This free exhibition is scattered throughout the main floor of the building and features life-size mannequins of Santa, and showcases how this iconic enigma is interpreted in other cultures.
We recommend getting there early in the morning with the kids and taking 45 minutes to explore the entire floor. Afterwards, head upstairs to the InterContinental Montreal for hot cocoa and pastries to top off the adventure. This experience is only a 25-minute walk from the NOCA condos and is the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning getting into the holiday spirit.
Watch the Fireworks
Griffintown residents often get a free front-row show to the fireworks during the summer, but did you know there are four winter spectacles as well? Starting on December 15th and continuing every Saturday until the 29th, a firework display titled “Fire and Ice” will light up the sky. So head to your condo rooftop and get ready for a dazzling show that’ll light up the night. If you’re keen on seeing the fireworks up close, you can also purchase a ticket to the Natrel Basin in the Old Port.
If you’re interested in purchasing a condo unit in Griffintown, discover the NOCA project. Situated in the western portion of the neighbourhood, this development has tranquil views of the Lachine Canal and is close to all the action.
