Five Things To Do in Ottawa This Winter

The nation’s capital contains a myriad of seasonal activities, events, and spectacles that will entice you into participating in the festivities. Our new ArtHaus condo is expected to revolutionize the property market in Ottawa, so today we’ve decide to take a look at some interesting things to do in the city this winter.

Christmas Lights Across Canada

Starting December 7, the 33rd edition of Christmas Lights Across Canada will illuminate the buildings on Parliament Hill. Witness and enjoy the projection of winter landscapes in a multimedia presentation along with live musical performances. Free hot chocolate and pastries will be distributed, which means spectators can try beavertails! These sugary treats are essentially fried dough coated with a variety of toppings and are popular amongst locals. Join thousands of others as the ceremony lights up every night until January 7, 2018.

A Christmas Carol

From December 17 to the 23, The Gladstone Theatre presents author Charles Dickens’ renowned tale A Christmas Carol for a second consecutive year. The treasured holiday tradition revolves around Ebenezer Scrooge, a pinchpenny who encounters the past, present, and future ghosts of Christmas in an attempt to redeem his “bah-humbug” manner. Witness a brilliant, soulful, solo performance by the 2014-15 Capital Critics Circle’s best actor nominee John D. Huston while enjoying seasonal carols for a spirited evening.

Winterlude 2018

Seasonal fun is far from done as the 40th edition of Ottawa’s winter celebration runs from February 2-19. Winterlude 2018 is Canada’s largest winter activity destination for friends and family. With the world’s largest skating rink on the Rideau Canal stretching 7.8 kilometres, glide blissfully through the heart of Ottawa from the downtown core to Dows Lake. Participate in ice carving competitions or stroll the playground surrounded by awe-inspiring snow sculptures.
