Kim is heading to Haiti this spring of 2017 for École Mark Bourque School

Kim Nguyen, Customer Service Manager at DevMcGill, usually loves adventure and exploring on trips will tell those who know her well! This year, she decided to make an unusual trip and to get out of her comfort zone. She will travel to Debussy, located in the mountains near Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

She will be taking part in a humanitarian mission with 40 other people, including firefighters and police officers from Montreal, as well as volunteers. For three weeks in April, the group will complete the École Mark Bourque project. During this mission, Kim and the other participants will also visit an orphanage to distribute gifts to children. In 2005, police officer Mark Bourque, a Quebec City native, died on duty in Port-au-Prince during a peace mission. In 2006, a group of police officers, under supervision of Jean Rousselle, began construction of the school that now bears the name of the deceased.

In order to provide a better environment for the 150 students at École Mark Bourque, Kim and the group are asking for financial and/or material assistance. The construction work will finally be completed with all the funds raised and the participation of the 40 volunteers.

If you would like to donate toys, summer and winter clothes (it is really cold in the mountains in Debussy!), used books for young children, sporting goods and/or hygiene products, Kim is offering to pick up the gifts at your doorstep!

The personal goal of our employee is to raise a minimum of $ 3,000.00 ($ 120,000 in total for the volunteer group) by March 21. This will provide construction materials, hot meals for students and school supplies.

If you and/or your company want to donate directly to the mission, you will find the « Faire un don » button on the website or on Facebook.

The Mark Bourque team is also offering visibility for your company during fundraising activities and the mission in Haiti:

  • Pictures with your logo (a company poster) with students and participants
  • Share of photos on Facebook and on the school website
  • Mention of your support in the media (Vtélé, TVA, etc.)
  • Delivery of photos upon return for advertisements
  • Honorary plaque with the business name in the school for a minimum of $ 500 in cash or object donations, products, construction materials, etc.
