Top Ladies Apparrel Stores in the Newly Renovated Rideau Centre
The rising star of our capital’s shopping scene has brought world-class fashion brands to the heart of the Byward Market. The Rideau Centre’s extravagant 360 million-dollar renovation has transformed the once lackluster mall into an architectural work of art, and every fashion lover’s dream.
Autumn not only signifies new beginnings, but brings on a whole new fresh wardrobe of knits and layers–offering more opportunity for creative styling. Whether it be adding new pieces to your professional wardrobe, treating yourself to casual wear, or those special night on the town outfits, the new Rideau is an exciting destination for fine fall fashions.
In this second part, Arthaus Condos offers you the top ladies apparel stores in the newly renovated Rideau Centre.
Zara
Zara has established itself as the go-to for runway-inspired looks befitting every season. You can expect the retailer to have your basic black bootie for the season, and a moderately priced version of that runway cardigan you’ve been coveting. Count on Zara to present an unexpected trend or two to refresh your wardrobe, and save you from the dreaded fashion rut. Previously located on the mall’s third floor, Zara has transformed into a larger flagship store in the mall’s newly expanded wing. The new larger location is a shiny, beautifully-lit and expansive store, with a more organized layout than its previous incarnation. Endless trends — the statement sleeves, sheer layers, and zipper details, among others — will have you just plain excited to start layering back up in anticipation for the chilly Ottawa weather. A fresh pair of jeans, a new leather jacket, and some practical chunky heels will give your casual wear a new air. Descend the escalator down to the lower level to find more of those statement items Zara is known for. Velvet pieces have appeared as an early fall favorite, seen in rich red dresses and high-neck tops in an elegant subdued pink–the perfect pair to that staple black pencil skirt. Emblematic of the new, elevated Rideau Zara is the array of on-trend chokers displayed throughout the store, in intricate combinations of leather, gold, and precious stones.
H&M
Fashion lovers on a budget, rejoice! Canadian favourite H&M has unveiled its new Rideau Centre store and it’s just as impressive as those found in our fashionable neighbours in Montreal. This is Ottawa’s third, but largest H&M location! The company previously opened two locations in the east and west ends of Ottawa in the Place d’Orleans and Bayshore shopping centres. Popular around the world, H&M offers affordable clothing, shoes and accessories, at various price points. They’re known for taking those high-end fashion trends and bringing them to the masses. You’ll also find interesting home items such as candles, rugs, servingware and more. A broad product range including the latest trends, and inspiration for you to create your own personal style. While the first level is an ideal place to find those casual ‘fast fashions’ and comfortable sleep wear, the lower level features a beautiful array of career chic work fashions, and runway-inspired evening wear. One of the best things about this brand is that H&M’s stores are refreshed daily with new fashion items. And we’ll let you in on a little shopping secret: this location has a gender neutral approach to their dressing rooms, letting the busy woman choose the shortest line to cut down on that notoriously long ladies’ dressing room wait time!
Anthropologie
Anthropologie is known for its higher price points, of which its devoted fans are content to shell out in exchange for their higher quality, intricately design fashions. This store is Urban Outfitters 2.0. And is sure to make waves in Ottawa. Whether you fancy Anthropologie’s ornate and interesting clothing offerings, or their pretty home decor items, you will certainly find this a welcome edition to the Rideau Centre. Previously Ottawa-based shoppers would have to make the trip to Toronto to buy in-store, or shop online. Ottawans can now get up close and personal to touch, feel and try-on Anthropologie’s collections at the new location. Find that new fall trouser to go with everything, and pair with an easy tee for the day, and a bohemian-inspired lace blouse for dinner and cocktail night.
Rudsak
If quality leather is your cup of tea, you’ll be perfectly content with the coming of Rudsak to Rideau. The Montreal-based leather goods and outerwear label is known for its tailored coats and endless bag lineup, in every available colour. Jackets ranged from aviator-inspired pea coats to leather puffers with cinched waists give your fall outerwear a rebel chic look. Unending bag picks include flight duffles and flat messenger envelopes in black and caramel–which can take you from work to weekend. Footwear is where Rudsak particularly shines. Their focus on women’s boots with zip-off shafts and rib-knit ankle detail. Rudsak’s classic rock and roll inspiration has entered new territory with the fall’s collection being fresh, young, sporty and rebellious. The streetwear influence remains evident, as does their unisex normcore undertones. New silhouettes, such as oversized anoraks and baseball varsity jackets are sure to be big sellers as the athletic trend is sticking around. However the brand’s quintessential pieces make an appearance in the new store, like the ‘Perfeco jacket’, with an updated two-tone finish, and the notoriously sultry skirts–perfect for work or play, found in buttery leather.
The Rideau expansion has injected new style into the Byward Market. Moments from your ArtHaus Condo, you can live, work, play, and shop, all within several hip and historical blocks.
