Simons
The Ottawa skyline is perhaps the jewel of the Rideau Centre’s new design, flooding the building with natural light. Simons has achieved this to perfection with its large windows enticing consumers to come inside, and seating areas which allow one to sip on a latte while admiring the expansive views of the Byward’s bustling streets below. Rising up two levels and spanning 100,000 square feet, Simons is the largest store added in the final stage of the Rideau Centre’s revitalization, built upon the facade of the former Ogilvy building, a historic Ottawa department store that closed ages ago. Three levels of fashions at a variety of price points make Simons the go-to. While it doesn’t feel like your typical big-box fashion emporium, you can find well-known brands ranging from Nike, Vans and Adidas all the way up to Balmain, Moschino and Play by Comme des Garçons. Simons’ focus on both affordable and designer items sets it apart. Hop over after work to explore the range of suits, ties, and array of stylish patterned scarfs or hats. While these items are reasonably priced, they’re not far from the curated designer section, which features statement pieces by Astrid Anderson and Alexander McQueen, among many others. Casual items from the Le 31 brands as well as crewneck sweaters for $34 and knit cardigans for $69.99 make Simons an essential one-stop destination for the busy modern man’s fashion needs.

Strellson
Switzerland’s largest menswear manufacturer has brought upscale apparel to Ottawa’s CF Rideau Centre. The menswear brand Strellson has opened a chic new location on the third level of the mall’s expansion wing. Producing mid-to-high priced casual and dressy menswear and accessories, Strellson will appeal to a range of ages. The brand’s exciting new campaign called “Unstoppable” launched last month on what would have been Freddie Mercury’s 70th Birthday, featuring Queen’s song ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ in an exclusive cover version by producer MNEK. This 2,000 square foot store offers an expansive range of Strellson’s fashion collections for the fall season. As with many of the Centre’s new updates, extra perks like Strellson’s handsome dressing room area which includes lounge seating and (free!) coffee, that world-class shopping experience has finally arrived in the heart of the capital.
ArtHaus Condos residents will be immersed in the artful, amenity-filled lifestyle the Byward is known for. It is our capital’s newest work of art–The Rideau Centre’s high-end retail transformation–which acts as the Byward’s piece de resistance!
